به گزارش پایگاه خبری و تحلیلی «گلستان ما»؛ شعبان شتایی رئیس دانشگاه علوم کشاورزی و منابع طبیعی گرگان در واکنش به اعتراض دانشجویان آمریکایی حامی فلسطین با ارسال ایمیلی خطاب به رئیس دانشگاه کلمبیا نوشت: دنیا از شما به عنوان یک دانشمند انتظار دارد این جنایات را محکوم کنید و به دانشجویان غیور خود فرصت اعتراض بدهید. سزاوار نیست دانشجویان را به دست پلیس بی‌رحم انداخت، لطفا به احترام انسانیت دستور آزادی همه دانشجویان را بدهید و شخصا به آنها گل بدهید.

متن این ایمیل به شرح ذیل است:

Dear Professor Minouche Shafik,
President of Columbia University,

The unfortunate news of the arrest of a number of students and professors of your university by the police has caused great concern. Students and professors should be able to express their spirit of justice freely. The usurping Israeli regime has deliberately murdered more than 34000 innocent people, including thousands of children and thousands of women. Students cannot bear all this cruelty; as no free person can endure.

I don't know how you are willing to see these heartbreaking scenes and remain silent.

The world expects you as a scientist to condemn these crimes and give your zealous students a chance to protest. It is not deserved to throw the students into the hands of merciless police.

Please, out of respect for humanity, order the release of all the students and personally give them flowers.

Please, don't forget that you were born in Egypt.
